 RURAL ENERGY PROGRAMME :

Bio gas plants and improved chulla are being installed under the Rural Energy programme. These programmes are women and environment friendly aimed at bettering the lives of women and at the same time conserving the human and bio mass energy. Biogas activity has led to the saving of fuel wood and made manure available to the farmers. This programme has had an extremely positive impact in the lives of tribal women. It has greatly reduced the time needed for cooking, which empowers women to utilize the saved time in other important areas of the home and personal development. Solar lanterns are also being promoted in this area

 AGRICULTURE EXTENSION :

Agriculture is a dynamic subject, and when irrigation is factored in, it becomes imperative for farmers to adopt new techniques for the conservation and maintenance of fertility in their soil. Thousands of farmers have been helped by irrigation projects, and agricultural extension information is offered through the training programmes and orientation meetings. Recently, the focus has included dry land agriculture with irrigated cultivation. Integrated Nutrient Management, Integrated Pest Management and on farm water management have also been promoted.

 INCOME GENERATION :

Combined with the optimal utilisation of the natural resources, the existing traditional skills of women are being nutured. SAHAJ (Sadguru) Handicrafts unifies the tribal women in a non-farm income generation program. A key purpose of this programme is the diversification from on farm agricultural activities.

The task of mainstreaming local skills has elicited the unwavering efforts from the tribal women. The result has been a beautiful range of products, covering jewelry, decorations, and accessories made from beads, bamboo & quilted items.

SAHAJ believes in local capacity enhancement to strengthen women's economic independence. They are not just simple "threaders" of the beads but are also participants in designing and management of the program.

 CAPACITY BUILDING :

Capacity building is an important component that completes the process of community empowerment and sustainability. Through the participatory approach, self-sufficiency is fostered. The main aim of training is to equip the groups and individuals with the tools to better implement and manage their programmes.

 MONITORING AND DOCUMENTATION :

SADGURU places a high priority on monitoring, documenting and evaluating. All activities are closely monitored to ensure timely and quality performance. Internal reviews and self-evaluations by departments are a regular feature. Each department reviews its past performance and based on that analysis makes improvements for future implementation. External periodic reviews, external and internal evaluations and close monitoring has given rise to high efficiency level and paving the way for multilateral funding. The organisation has been commended repeatedly for its fiscally responsibility, transparency and accountability to external funding bodies.
