Born from personal loss and deep commitment, Sharmistha Jagawat’s
journey has always been about restoring dignity to rural lives - one dam,
one field, one village at a time.
Inspired by the late Shri Arvindbhai Mafatlal, my journey in social work began alongside my late husband, Shri Harnath Jagawat. Rural communities faced severe hardship—lack of irrigation led to migration, poverty, and hunger. To change this, we introduced lift irrigation, plantations, and check dams, transforming lives and ensuring food security. Today, the impact is visible across villages, including Dahod, which became a “Smart City” in 2017
